Reaching break-even covers the period's costs. To set a profit target, add it to the fixed costs and divide by what each sale contributes.
An example with numbers
You have $3,000 of fixed costs and each unit contributes $20 after its variable cost. With 150 units you cover costs. To make an extra $2,000 you need to sell 250 units in the same period.
Try it with your numbers
Enter a profit target and compare the result with your production capacity or your available billable hours.
